My Journey

We all have our origin stories. Maybe you were born to become a programmer or you started off when you first went into college.

For me, I became a developer because I enjoy making stuff. I like to see my creation come to life and share what I have created. Additionally, I love finding efficient ways to achieve things in a short amount of time. When I was little, I liked to play a lot of video games. It got to the point where I started to learn how to beat a game within a short amount of time.

I remember playing a mobile game called Clash of Clans. I introduced it to my uncle after a few months of playing. Within a couple of weeks, he was ahead of me by a milestone. Not only was his Town Hall higher level than mine, but his whole base was better (he did not rush his Town Hall).

My uncle inspired me to figure out how to learn efficiently and accurately while achieving my goals quickly. Over time I learned what is essential for me and what isn’t, as well as more about my own strengths and weaknesses. I use that self‑knowledge to my advantage as a developer, allowing me to learn whatever I want without needing approval from anyone else. This mindset helped me build great projects, learn new technologies, and continue my journey without burning out. In other words, I learned “quality over quantity,” which led me to study web development before taking the course at my university.

Right now, I am continuing my journey as a developer and hope to achieve and learn a lot from the Dev.to community. It has been a great experience so far.

Shout out

Shout out to @itsugo for being my first follower on Dev.to. Your comments inspired me to continue my journey! I’d also like to acknowledge Richard Pascoe. His consistency and enthusiasm for the community motivated me to keep going as a developer. Unfortunately, he left the community for personal reasons. More can be found in this post by @bingkahu on the DEVengers org:

Your Turn

Why did you become a developer? I would love to hear from the community!
