Features of the second‑generation AirTag

Apple’s second‑generation AirTag offers:

  • 50 % farther Precision Finding
  • Upgraded Bluetooth with increased range
  • A speaker that is 50 % louder

Rumored Vision Pro integration

In August 2023, Apple analyst Ming‑Chi Kuo reported that the new AirTag would have tighter integration with Apple’s upcoming Vision Pro headset, as part of its spatial‑computing ecosystem. The rumor suggested that infrared cameras in the headset would work with the AirTag to enable enhanced spatial experiences.

Current status

The released product does not include the promised Vision Pro integration. It remains possible that Apple could add deeper AirTag support through a future visionOS 27 update, but no official details have been announced.

Kuo’s earlier reports also linked the upcoming AirPods Pro to Vision Pro, suggesting that spatial audio could be enhanced when users turn their heads while watching video content. With the AirTag’s Vision Pro feature missing, the status of similar AirPods functionality is now uncertain, especially as Apple appears to be deprioritizing new headset development.
