Users can see their contacts, chats and call history on their CarPlay‑compatible infotainment systems.
Meta has released a new version of WhatsApp for CarPlay that offers much better integration than the previous version. As reported by MacRumors and 9to5Mac, the new app provides a native interface, whereas the old WhatsApp for CarPlay was limited to Siri‑operated features such as composing messages or placing calls via voice commands.
Updated interface includes
- Contact info section – view profiles of people saved in your account.
- Favorites section – quick access to contacts you frequently message or call.
- Recent chats and call history – see your latest conversations and calls directly in the app.
- Shortcut buttons – send messages via dictation or place a call without needing Siri commands.
Meta has been beta‑testing the new app since at least last week. It is now available to all users; simply update the iOS WhatsApp app and connect your iPhone to a CarPlay‑compatible infotainment system.
OpenAI has also recently rolled out ChatGPT’s Voice mode to CarPlay, allowing drivers to hold a conversation with the chatbot while on the road.
