Waymo autonomous vehicles date back to Google’s self‑driving car project that started in 2009. As of today, you can get a ride in 10 cities across the US.
Where Waymo is fully available
Using the Waymo app on Android and iOS, you can hail a ride in Phoenix, San Francisco Bay Area, and Los Angeles.
It’s also available in Atlanta and Austin through a partnership with Uber. To enable it, go to the Uber app → Account tab → Settings → Ride Preferences → Autonomous Vehicles and toggle Waymo. This lets you match with Waymo cars when requesting UberX, Uber Green, Uber Comfort, or Uber Comfort Electric. After accepting the ride, unlock the car using the Uber app.
Waymo currently uses a white Jaguar I‑Pace equipped with sensors all around the vehicle and a dome on the roof that displays your initials upon arrival.

In early‑access cities, Waymo lets people who have downloaded the app and signed up use the service. New riders are invited on a rolling basis to “ensure a seamless experience.”
As of February 2026, early‑access cities include:
