TL;DR
- The Steam Deck OLED is back in stock, but at prices up to $300 higher than before.
- The 512 GB Steam Deck OLED now costs $789, while the 1 TB configuration runs $949.
- The hikes may signal higher pricing for future Steam hardware such as the Steam Machine and Steam Frame.
Price increase
High demand for memory and storage has driven component costs up across the board, and consumers have felt the effects throughout early 2026. Earlier this year, the Steam Deck OLED went out of stock at its then‑current prices of $549 for the 512 GB model and $649 for the 1 TB variant. The original Steam Deck LCD sold out permanently, as Valve confirmed the 256 GB model was no longer in production.
Now the Steam Deck OLED is back in stock, but its return comes with a significantly higher price tag:
- 512 GB model: $789 (up $240)
- 1 TB model: $949 (up $300)
The handheld ships within three to five days from the Steam Store.
Configuration details
Both Steam Deck OLED configurations are identical except for SSD capacity and a few accessories:
| Model | Storage | Price | Extras |
|---|---|---|---|
| 512 GB | 512 GB SSD | $789 | Basic carrying case, Steam profile bundle |
| 1 TB | 1 TB SSD | $949 | Upgraded carrying case with removable liner, exclusive startup movie, keyboard theme |
When the OLED first sold out in February 2026, Valve added a footnote to the product page warning that the handheld “may be out‑of‑stock intermittently in some regions due to memory and storage shortages.” That note has been removed now that the device is again available, albeit at higher prices.

Alternatives
The Steam Deck OLED turns three years old in November, making it harder for prospective buyers to justify the price. A more affordable option is Valve’s certified refurbished Steam Deck models, which start at $319 for the 256 GB LCD version. Refurbished units carry the same warranty as new devices, though availability is limited.
Future outlook
As the Steam Deck OLED sees a major price hike, attention turns to Valve’s upcoming 2026 product roadmap, which includes:
- A Steam Machine gaming PC
- A Steam Frame wireless VR headset
- A new Steam Controller
While pricing for the Steam Machine and Steam Frame has not been disclosed, the $300 increase on the OLED model does not bode well for a positive pricing outlook for future hardware.
