Valve raises Steam Deck OLED prices

Valve’s Steam Deck OLED has seen a significant price hike. The 512 GB model is now $789 (up $240) and the 1 TB model is $949 (up $300).

In a blog post, Valve explained that the increases are “due to rising memory and storage costs.” The post added:

“Steam Deck itself hasn’t changed; these new prices reflect the current state of component costs and other global logistical challenges across the industry as a whole.”

Previously, the 512 GB version sold for $549 and the 1 TB version for $649. The price rise follows earlier stock shortages caused by the same component constraints.

Competitive landscape

  • Lenovo Legion Go 2 – reviewed at $1,349.99
  • Asus ROG Xbox Ally X – priced at $999.99
  • Asus ROG Xbox Ally – still at $599.99 despite performance quirks

These alternatives now appear less “outrageous” compared to the newly priced Steam Deck OLED.

Valve’s other hardware projects

Memory and storage shortages have also impacted Valve’s upcoming products:

  • Steam Machine – delayed from Q1 2026 to an unspecified later date.
  • Steam Frame VR headset – similarly delayed.

Valve recently launched a new Steam Controller earlier this month.

Other console manufacturers have recently raised prices:

  • Xbox Series X – now $649.
  • PlayStation 5 – base model $649.99; PS5 Pro $899.
  • Nintendo Switch 2 – slated for a $50 increase in September, reaching $499.

A 1 TB Steam Deck now costs more than a PlayStation 5 Pro, highlighting the broader impact of component cost inflation across the gaming hardware market.
