Battery Life Improvements
If there’s one thing that stops people from using their smart rings over the long term, it’s the battery life. Because the devices are so unobtrusive, it’s easy to forget to drop them on the charging plate every few days, turning a pricey gadget into little more than an expensive piece of jewelry. Ultrahuman aims to address this issue with its new Pro ring, which boasts up to 15 days of battery life. The package also includes a fancy battery case that can power the ring for 45 days, making it easier to keep re‑charged on the go.
Hardware Upgrades
The Ultrahuman Ring Pro isn’t just equipped with a larger battery; it has been re‑engineered from the ground up. According to the company’s Bhuvan Srinivasan, the older hardware had been pushed to its limit, especially in terms of data processing. The Pro now features:
- A dual‑core processor with on‑device machine learning for better analysis of biometric data.
- Increased memory capable of storing up to 250 days of data before needing to sync with a smartphone.
- Improved durability and a design that makes it easier to disassemble in the rare event of finger or battery swelling.
Pro Charger Design
Having seen a prototype of the Pro Charger in person, it appears to be the most aesthetically pleasing way to recharge a smart ring to date. Unlike Samsung and Oura, which use discreet, ring‑box‑style chargers, Ultrahuman created a charger meant to sit on a nightstand. It includes:
- An integrated battery that extends charging intervals.
- An LED charge indicator, speaker, and haptic feedback.
- Firmware‑diagnosis capabilities that can address and resolve issues that might otherwise brick the device.
Jade – Real‑Time Biointelligence AI
Ultrahuman is also unveiling Jade, its new “real‑time biointelligence AI.” Jade is designed to:
- Pull real‑time actionable insights from the ring’s data.
- Initiate breathwork sessions or trigger atrial fibrillation (Afib) detection.
- Over time, gain new features such as ordering groceries, adjusting room temperature, or flagging potential health issues.
Jade will continuously monitor health by aggregating data from the Ring Pro, the M1 continuous glucose monitor, and environmental statistics from the Ultrahuman Home.
Availability & Pricing
- Pre‑order price: $479 (shipments beginning in March).
- Trade‑in: Existing Ultrahuman Ring owners can receive a trade‑in discount toward the new model.
We’ll be testing the Pro ring over the coming months and will share our impressions of its performance and features.
