Uber Eats adds AI assistant to help with grocery shopping

Overview

Uber announced a new AI feature called Cart Assistant for grocery shopping in its Uber Eats app.

How it works

• Text prompts: Use the assistant like any AI chatbot to ask it to build a grocery list for you.
• Image upload: Upload a picture of your shopping list and have the assistant populate your cart with items based on your order history.

You can be as generic as “milk, eggs, cereal,” and the bot will generate a list with your preferred brands.

Future features

Uber says that in the coming months, Cart Assistant will add more capabilities, including full recipe inspiration and additional shopping assistance tools.
