The xAI‑SpaceX merger announced last week combined the two companies (and the social‑media platform X) for a reported $1.25 trillion valuation, making it the biggest merger of all time.

Departures of co‑founders

Following the announcement, a handful of xAI employees and two of its co‑founders abruptly exited the company, posting departure announcements online. Some also said they were starting their own AI ventures.

  • Yuhai (Tony) Wu, co‑founder, announced his departure on X, writing that it was “time for [his] next chapter.”
  • Jimmy Ba, another co‑founder, posted later that day that it was “time to recalibrate [his] gradient on the big picture.”
