Overview
Apple today unveiled the new MacBook Neo, starting at an impressive $599. I attended the Apple “Experience” event in New York City and got a chance to see the MacBook Neo in person.
The “Apple Experience” featured John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware engineering, who recapped the week’s announcements before introducing the MacBook Neo with the line, “life is just better when you’re using a Mac.” After the presentation, attendees were invited behind the makeshift stage to examine the new laptop up close.
Colors
The MacBook Neo is available in four finishes:
- Blush
- Indigo
- Silver
- Fresh new citrus (Apple’s own name)
The colors look fantastic, and Apple matched the keyboard caps to each finish. As with other MacBook hues, the shade can shift noticeably depending on lighting and viewing angle.
Pricing
The starting price is $599 for most buyers. Education customers receive a lower entry price of $499, which is a surprising discount compared with typical MacBook pricing.
