Background
Many horror‑gaming fans have been curious about a new take on the Paranormal Activity film franchise. The project was announced in 2024, and the first trailer looked promising. The found‑footage horror game, Paranormal Activity: Threshold, was slated for release but will not be completed.
Cancellation
Solo developer Brian Clarke shared the news in a social‑media post. The cancellation stemmed from a request for additional development time that Paramount, the rights holder, denied. Clarke explained:
“This left me with two choices. Rush through the development and release a sub‑par product I would not be proud of, or request we go our separate ways. I chose the latter.”
He added that the split with publisher DreadXP was amicable and thanked them for their support.
