Release Details

Volume two of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection will arrive on August 27, announced by Konami during Sony’s State of Play presentation. The bundle includes:

  • Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (2008)
  • The HD remaster of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (2010)
  • Bonus content, including Metal Gear: Ghost Babel (originally released for Game Boy Color in 2000)

While the selection is smaller than that of Vol. 1, fans will be excited that MGS4 will finally be playable on a platform other than the PlayStation 3.

Technical Background

MGS4 remained a PlayStation 3 exclusive for nearly two decades because it leveraged the console’s unique Cell architecture, making ports to modern x86‑based systems both difficult and costly. Although emulation on powerful PCs has become possible, it requires hardware many players don’t have.

Platform Availability

  • Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 will be available on PS5.
  • Konami has not yet announced availability on other platforms, but the previous installment was also released on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox.
