The 2027 Lexus TZ EV SUV

Overview

Earlier this year, Toyota revealed its first three‑row electric SUV, the Highlander EV. Lexus is now putting its own spin on the segment with the upcoming TZ, which offers a more upscale design, seating for up to six, and an estimated top range of around 300 miles.

Powertrain and Range

  • Platform: Toyota e‑TNGA
  • Battery options: 76.9 kWh or 95.8 kWh
  • AWD system: Direct4 (upgraded)
  • Estimated output: ~400 hp (or more), based on similar e‑TNGA models
  • Range estimate: ~300 miles with the 95 kWh pack (EPA figures pending)
  • Charging: 150 kW max, 10‑80 % in ~35 minutes; native NACS port plus an optional AC‑inlet accessory adapter for charging other devices.

Dimensions and Exterior

  • Length: 200.8 in (slightly longer than the Highlander EV)
  • Styling: Bold lines, Lexus’ spindle‑shaped grille, and a design language similar to the Highlander EV and Subaru Getaway.
  • Dynamic Rear Steering: Up to 4° of steering for improved low‑speed maneuverability and high‑speed stability.

Interior and Technology

  • Infotainment: 14‑inch central touchscreen plus a 12.3‑inch digital instrument cluster.
  • Connectivity: Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
  • Smart Digital Key+: Unlock the vehicle with a phone or smartwatch, even if the device’s battery is depleted.

Sustainability

Lexus emphasizes a quiet cabin—claimed to be the quietest among its SUVs (both EV and ICE)—and incorporates several sustainable materials:

  • Forged bamboo panels
  • Plant‑based UltraSuede
  • Recycled aluminum for roof rails and tonneau‑cover frame

The word “quiet” appears eight times in the official press release.

Pricing and Availability

Official pricing, availability, configurations, and trim levels have not yet been disclosed. Lexus plans to release these details closer to the TZ’s launch later this year.
