The Google Weather Android ‘app’ is going away

Google is removing Android’s de facto Weather app in favor of Search results. This deprecation began a few months ago and is now gaining momentum.
The Google app has long offered a fullscreen “Weather” experience launched from a homescreen shortcut (a sun and cloud badge on the ‘G’ icon). Tapping the shortcut opens a single feed with a search bar for switching between saved cities. A Froggy background appears first, showing the current temperature, high/low, condition, and “feels like” temperature. Below that are the hourly forecast carousel and a 10‑day forecast that can be tapped for more details. Current conditions cards display wind, humidity, UV index, pressure, and sunrise & sunset. Precipitation, wind, and humidity graphs appear in the hourly details.
Old
In recent months, users tapping the Weather homescreen shortcut have been taken to a Google Search results page for “weather.”
Your home screen shortcut now leads to Google Search:

The page was redesigned with the Froggy card serving double duty for current conditions and the hourly forecast. It includes a 10‑day forecast carousel, drop‑downs for precipitation, wind, humidity, and a new air‑quality section. Google also uses AI Overviews to provide a summary of current weather conditions.
New
Users who received the “The weather page has moved” notification no longer see a “View all details” button that opened the fullscreen Weather experience. Scrolling down on the new page shows web results instead.
Over the past few days, more devices have migrated to this new experience, and the old Weather app is no longer accessible, though the rollout is not yet complete. Google appears to be consolidating its weather functionality into Search, eliminating the need to maintain two separate experiences.
