Overview
I’m typically reluctant to recommend budget-friendly laptops, particularly ones that run Windows, because they suck, more often than not. That’s beginning to change, thanks in part to last year’s introduction of the Snapdragon X-series processors that offer solid performance and good x86 and x64 app compatibility.
The ASUS VivoBook Snapdragon X Laptop, released in early 2023, was a decent entry‑level device, but it suffered from a few drawbacks: a low‑resolution display, a sub‑par keyboard, and a chassis that felt cheap.
Now, ASUS has refreshed that model with a new Snapdragon X processor, a better screen, and a more refined design. The updated laptop is positioned as a “budget‑friendly” Windows machine that can handle everyday tasks, media consumption, and light productivity without the bloat often found in low‑cost Windows laptops.
Below, we break down the key specs, design changes, performance, and whether the price point makes sense for its target audience.
