It’s with much sadness that we announce the passing of our friend and colleague Ralph Giles, known as rillian on IRC.
Official announcement:

Contributions

• Began contributing to Xiph.org in 2000 and became a core Ghostcode developer in 2001¹.
• Served as project lead on Theora, release manager for multiple Xiph libraries, and maintained Xiph infrastructure used across the industry by codec engineers and researchers².
• Was the first to ship Rust code in Firefox during his time at Mozilla, a major milestone for both the language and the browser³.

Legacy

Ralph was a great contributor, a kind colleague, and will be greatly missed.
