Tavern is Ready

It’s been several weeks since I posted about my side‑project, Tavern, and now it’s ready — by “ready” I mean “credit card processing works.” Check it out at trytavern.com.

Overview

Tavern is a Slack app that regularly matches up team members, similar to Donut. It focuses on the core functionality of making connections within a group without the extra features that drive up the price of many competing apps.

Pricing

• $20 per month gets you 200 match credits.
• Each pairing of two (or three) people consumes one credit.

Example scenarios:

• A 100‑person channel matched weekly uses 100 credits.
• Ten teams of 20 people each could match twice a month (10 × 20 × 2 = 400 credits, so you’d need two $20 plans).

Compared to other solutions that charge $50–$300 per month for a 50‑person team, Tavern offers a more affordable option for groups that only need basic matching.

Production Use

The app has been running in production at my current workplace for a couple of months and is performing well.
