‘Survivor’ stars Kyle Fraser and Kamilla Karthigesu introduce a goal-tracking app, Paprclip

On Survivor season 48, Kyle Fraser’s alliance with cast‑mate Kamilla Karthigesu helped drive him to victory.
Now the pair is teaming up in a new arena, hoping for a similar outcome: they’re starting a business together. On Tuesday, the new co‑founders introduced Paprclip, a goal‑focused “social accountability” app that they hope will become a more meaningful form of social media.
The Idea
Inspired by their experiences in the game, post‑game life, and positive‑psychology principles, Paprclip’s concept is to bring people together to tackle personal goals—whether health‑ and‑wellness‑related or something entirely different.
The app is making its Kickstarter debut, where the team is aiming to raise an additional $40,000 toward development.
A Bit of Backstory
Fraser and Karthigesu both returned to Survivor for season 50, but Fraser unfortunately tore his Achilles during the first immunity challenge. He had to leave the game and begin months of physical therapy, as he told TechCrunch in an interview.
At the same time, his wife was pregnant, and he was contemplating his next steps as a Survivor winner.
“I had a lot of things going on in my life that required organization, but also accountability and a push from different people,” Fraser says.
That led him to think of how Paprclip could work—by sharing short clips with a friend, focused on documenting progress toward a goal.

How Paprclip Works
- Daily Challenges: Users receive randomized challenges designed to push them outside their comfort zone. The challenges are created in collaboration with licensed clinical therapists.
- Goal & Habit Building: Users can set personal or paired goals, habits, and tasks.
- Short‑Form Clips: Progress is documented via short video clips that can stay private or be shared publicly on other social platforms.
- Shared Journal: Clips are compiled on a shared page that functions like a journal, allowing both users to look back and keep each other accountable.
- Badges & Rewards: Completing challenges earns badges, adding a gamified element.
“I’m a habit tracker, an organization hacker,” Fraser admits. “There are so many habit trackers and productivity tools, but nothing that lets you really do things together.”
Fraser credits other people for helping him achieve major life milestones—getting into college, playing lacrosse, completing law school, becoming a litigator for a major record label, and, of course, winning Survivor.
“Why not develop a product that leans into something that’s helped me so significantly?” he says.

Beyond Health & Fitness
While Paprclip shares community elements with fitness apps like Strava, it isn’t limited to health or exercise goals.
“I don’t see it solely as a health and wellness app. If Paprclip functions the way I want it to, people will realize they can use it for anything—cooking, painting, new hobbies. This is a social accountability app,” Fraser explains.
The Founders’ Dynamic
Just as in Survivor, Fraser and Karthigesu’s partnership translates to the business world.
“I would come to Kamilla with a problem—like a puzzle, or ‘Kamilla, I have this crazy idea, can we pull it off?’ It literally happened in real life,” Fraser says. Karthigesu, a senior software engineer at Discord, had the technical chops to make it happen.
Fraser emphasizes that the app was built by people, not by AI—they hired developers and designers to bring the vision to life.
“I’m not critical of AI, but one thing that has been important to us is that this is an app for people, made by people,” he notes.

Funding & Support
To get off the ground, Paprclip is leveraging:
- A $20,000 grant and operational support from the Flemming Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Hampden‑Sydney College, where Fraser became the inaugural alumni founder to build a company through its Forge on the Hill program.
- Additional backing from the Ze (the original text cuts off here; you may want to verify the full name of this partner).
