Pixel battery concerns and recent leaks
New Pixel 11 leaks were circulating today, with the Pro models rumored to have improved cameras, brighter displays, and possibly smaller batteries than last year’s Pixel 10 Pro phones. While a few hundred milliamp‑hours might not be a deal‑breaker if the phones last through the day, the longstanding issue is inconsistent drain and the feeling that Pixel battery life is always one update away from becoming a problem again.
After you told us that most of you had noticed the latest battery drain problem a couple of weeks ago, we dug deeper to see whether Google’s battery issues are serious enough to make users abandon Pixel.
Our latest poll followed my colleague Rita’s opinion piece, where she argued that Google’s Pixel battery problems are unforgivable after ten years. Her article covered more than the March update drain issue (which stemmed from a Deep Doze bug) and examined the broader Pixel pattern: inconsistent battery life on the Pixel 10 series, longevity concerns, charge throttling, and the perception that Google still hasn’t nailed one of the most basic parts of making a phone. Rita, who uses a Pixel for professional work, is clearly losing patience, but most readers aren’t required to use a Pixel for their day jobs.
Poll results
- 15% of respondents have already switched to another brand because of Google’s battery problems.
- Just over 30% plan to switch away with their next upgrade.
- 32% still choose Pixel despite the battery issues.
- 22% hadn’t noticed any battery problems.
Overall, 46% of respondents either have switched away or plan to do so—a “loyalty wobble” that should concern Google more than a few angry comments after a bad update. Whether Google can win back the undecided voters remains uncertain.
Community feedback
Readers were vocal in the comments on Rita’s article:
- Some have already moved to phones from Poco, Motorola, Samsung, or Apple, citing battery peace of mind as the main factor.
- One reader who switched from a Pixel 8 Pro to a vivo V70 summed it up: “No battery anxiety, even on 5G — and with zero optimization that alone makes a huge difference.” – Udithuday
- Long‑time Pixel owner Deguito wrote, “I’m not going back to Pixels unless Google radically changes their phones.”
There were also defenders of the Pixel:
- Terlicher: “I’d rather have a Pixel with battery problems than anything else in the Android universe.”
- Another commenter noted that Samsung’s software issues had driven them back to Pixel.
Even among loyal users, the power‑consumption conversation keeps resurfacing, highlighting the ongoing challenge for Google.
