Welcome to SUPER ZSNES

The two original developers of ZSNES are finally back together! Introducing SUPER ZSNES – a GPU‑powered SNES emulator rewritten from scratch. It brings familiar features, new enhancements, and beyond.

Key Features

  • Far more accurate CPU and audio cores than the original ZSNES
  • GPU‑powered PPU core for hi‑res Mode 7 and per‑game enhancement features
  • Classic UI with falling snow, modernized with higher definition and improved UX
  • Fast forward, rewind, save states, auto‑save history, save bookmarks, cheat codes, quick load, and more
  • No Vibe Coding – classic development style
  • Super Enhancement Engine, with game‑by‑game enhancements

Super Enhancement Engine

Currently supports 7 popular games, with more added as development continues.

  • High Resolution – Uses an internal drawing program, not just an upscaler, to produce crisp details.
  • Texture / Normal Map – Adds detailed textures to backgrounds for a higher‑resolution look.
  • Overclock – Reduces slowdown in select games.
  • Wide Screen (where available) – Enables widescreen when the game internally supports partial or full widescreen.
  • Uncompressed Audio Replacement – Replaces highly compressed audio samples with curated uncompressed ones.
  • 3D – Currently limited to perspective‑style Mode 7, replacing tiles with 3D height‑mapped data.

All enhancements can be individually disabled to suit your play style.

Note: Enhancement data contains no ROM or copyrighted material. You must provide your own ROMs; do not ask the developers for ROMs.

What’s Coming

  • Bug fixes
  • Special chip emulation (DSP1, SuperFX, etc.)
  • More optimization work
  • Additional enhancement types
  • Netplay
  • Other features

This is an early build; emulation bugs remain and special chips (DSP1, SuperFX, etc.) are not yet implemented. Further optimization is needed, so performance may be slower than expected.
