Stop Advertising in Your Commits

I don’t get why people just gleefully add these ads for companies to their open‑source projects that do not pay them a penny (but actively take money from them in subscription fees).

Why this is a problem
It’s an ad. You probably use ad blockers, yet you add ads to your commits. Commits are meant for technical information, not advertising.
What you should do
- Disclose any AI tools in a merge request if needed, but keep commit messages free of promotional text.
- If you want to note the use of an LLM, a simple “generated by an LLM” is sufficient.
- Consider not using tools that automatically insert advertising into commits, emails, or other messages.
