States ask judge to break up Live Nation-Ticketmaster

A federal judge has been officially tasked with deciding whether to break up Live Nation‑Ticketmaster.

States’ Request

More than 30 states are asking Judge Arun Subramanian to:

• Order a sale of the ticketing giant.
• Require the divestiture of a “sufficient number” of large amphitheaters.
• Limit the company’s ability to tie access to its remaining venues to the use of its promotions services.

Recent Court Findings

In April, a jury concluded that Live Nation‑Ticketmaster is an illegal monopolist after a month‑long trial.

Proposed Remedies

The initial remedies proposal does not include a further breakup of other parts of Live Nation’s business—a point highlighted by California Attorney General Rob Bonta to The Verge and other outlets earlier this week.
