TL;DR

  • Spotify will start verifying that artist profiles truly represent the artists they claim to.
  • Qualifying profiles will receive a Verified by Spotify badge.
  • All artist profiles, verified or not, will feature new AI‑generated summaries.

Verified badge rollout

Spotify is introducing a Verified by Spotify badge with a green checkmark icon for artist profiles that the platform has confirmed represent actual, human artists. The badge will not appear on AI‑generated profiles at launch.

Eligibility criteria

According to Spotify’s blog post, an artist must:

  • Be in compliance with Spotify’s policies.
  • Have an identifiable presence both on and off the platform.
  • Meet a sustained interest threshold over time.

AI‑generated profiles are currently ineligible, and Spotify is not prioritizing the review of “content farms.” At launch, Spotify expects that more than 99 % of the artists listeners actively search for will be verified.

AI‑generated artist summaries

Every artist profile will include an Artist details section, regardless of verification status. This section provides:

  • An AI‑summarized overview of the artist.
  • Touring activity.
  • Release history.
  • Additional relevant information.

Rollout timeline

Both the Verified badge and the AI‑generated artist summaries will begin rolling out in the coming weeks.
