Spotify now includes audio versions of long‑form magazine articles for subscribers

Starting today, Spotify adds Narrated Articles—audio versions of long‑form magazine pieces—from major publications. The feature is available with limits for Premium subscribers, while any user can purchase individual articles for $1.99 each.

What’s new

  • Audio articles are produced by the Spotify Audiobooks team.
  • English‑language support is available at launch.
  • The service expands Spotify’s existing mix of music, podcasts, and audiobooks.

Spotify has curated more than 650 articles from outlets such as:

  • Rolling Stone
  • The Atlantic
  • Vogue
  • Variety
  • Billboard
  • Vibe
  • GQ
  • WIRED
  • Vanity Fair
  • Pitchfork

Spotify’s statement

“We see Articles as a natural extension of the audio people already come to Spotify for,” the company says. “And through Spotify’s discovery and personalization features, media publishers and magazine partners can bring stories directly to listeners who are most likely to be excited about their content.”

The rollout follows a recent series of Spotify updates, including a tool that lets subscribers remix and cover songs — see the full announcement here.

Spotify’s disco ball app icon—which sparked discussion last week—remains a temporary design. More details are available here.
