Spotify Studio’s AI agent creates a daily podcast just for you
Source: The Verge
Overview
Studio by Spotify Labs is a new standalone AI app that generates a daily briefing, podcasts, and playlists on your PC using chatbot prompts. The AI‑generated content draws from your Spotify listening history and information from connected apps such as your email inbox, calendar, and notes. Spotify says the AI can also “take action on your behalf,” including researching topics, using a web browser, organizing information, and helping complete tasks.
Features
- Content generation: Daily briefing podcasts, playlists, and other audio content tailored to you.
- Data integration: Leverages your Spotify listening history plus data from connected services (email, calendar, notes).
- Actionable AI: Can perform tasks like web research, information organization, and task completion.
- Library saving: Any content you generate, such as a daily briefing podcast, can be saved to your Spotify library.
Availability
- Launching “in the coming weeks” as a research preview for users 18 years and older.

Industry Context
- Google has offered a similar feature in NotebookLM since 2024.
- Amazon and Microsoft recently introduced AI podcast capabilities in Alexa Plus and the Edge browser, respectively.
- Some users report these tools help them quickly catch up on news or learn new topics, though usage metrics are unclear.
User Perspective
Spotify’s audience already turns to the platform for audio content, though not necessarily AI‑generated audio. While the new Studio app focuses on generating daily briefings, podcasts, and playlists—not music—its utility may vary by listener. For those who prefer human‑created shows, an AI‑generated podcast (e.g., a road‑trip itinerary) might feel less engaging, but for others it could become a convenient part of their morning routine.
