TL;DR
- Spotify now offers audio recaps for audiobooks, similar to “previously on” TV show recaps.
- The Page Match feature is expanding to more than 30 additional languages.
- Users in the US and UK can purchase physical books on the platform, starting with Android devices.
Page Match Expansion
Spotify revealed that its Page Match feature, announced in February, is now available in over 30 additional languages (including French and German). Page Match lets you use the Spotify mobile app to scan a page in a physical book with your camera. The app then finds the corresponding spot in the audiobook, allowing you to pick up where you left off.
Audiobook Recaps
The music‑streaming platform announced that Audiobook Recaps are now available on Android. The feature debuted in November as part of a beta on iOS, so there has been a gap between the initial release and the Android rollout. As the name implies, Audiobook Recaps deliver short audio summaries of your progress to date. Spotify likened this feature to the “previously on” recaps in TV shows. This can be handy if you’re returning to an audiobook after a long time or if you’re reading a lengthy book and need a quick refresher.
Physical Bookshop
Spotify also launched a physical bookshop on the platform earlier this year. It is now live on Android in the US and UK, while iPhone users will be able to start buying physical books starting next week.
