Sony abruptly shuts down online multiplayer game Destruction AllStars

Shutdown announcement
Sony confirmed that Destruction AllStars is no longer available for purchase and its online servers have been shut down. An email from the company stated: “Due to ongoing technical issues, multiplayer services for Destruction AllStars on PlayStation 5 consoles shall remain offline and are no longer available.” Players who own the title can still access single‑player content until November 25; after that date only solo arcade modes will remain, though they may have limited functionality without server support.
Game details
Destruction AllStars launched as a free title for PlayStation Plus members in February 2021. The game offered Twisted Metal‑style chaotic vehicular arena battles. While most online multiplayer games rely on regular content updates or battle passes to retain players, Destruction AllStars went relatively quiet within a year of release.

Reception and speculation
The lack of advanced notice from Sony or developer Lucid Games about the sunsetting was unusual. The game never seemed to capture a sustainable audience in the crowded games‑as‑a‑service market, which likely contributed to the decision to discontinue its online services.
