Show HN: Tag Promptless on any GitHub PR/Issue to get updated user-facing docs
Source: Hacker News
Introduction
Hi HN! I’m Prithvi—my co‑founder Frances and I launched Promptless almost a year ago here: . It’s an AI teammate that watches your workflows—code changes, support tickets, Slack threads, etc.—and automatically drafts doc updates when it spots something that should be documented.
After a year of feedback, we’re launching Promptless 1.0, which addresses our biggest learnings from the last 12 months.
How to Try Promptless
- GitHub integration: Tag
@promptlesson any open‑source GitHub PR or Issue with a doc‑update request, and Promptless will create a fork and open a PR for your docs. Try it on our own docs: - Sign‑up: Get free access for your own docs for the next 30 days at .

Creative Use Cases
- A user has Promptless listening in to all their Slack Connect channels; whenever they answer a customer question, Promptless determines if the docs need updating and drafts an update.
- Another user processes every customer‑meeting transcript and updates internal docs after each meeting (customer dashboards, feature‑request pages, etc.).
New Features in Version 1.0
-
Automatically updating screenshots
The most requested feature. Previously, screenshots were often omitted because they became stale quickly, even though they were helpful. Improvements in LLM visual grounding now allow reliable screenshot updates. -
Slop‑free writing
Early Promptless suggestions were accurate but sometimes sounded generic, verbose, or “AI‑sloppy.” Version 1.0 is 3.5× better at voice alignment (measured against what users actually published) thanks to fine‑tuned models, sub‑agents, and alignment with user‑defined preferences. -
Open‑source program
Promptless is now free for CNCF/Linux Foundation projects (reach out if you’re a maintainer!). See how Promptless supports Vitess (a CNCF‑graduated project) with their docs:
