Project Overview

I’m working on creating a low‑power FM (LPFM) radio station for the east San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. Our planned frequency is 95.9 FM. The projected coverage area can be seen on the homepage of our site.

Current Status

  • Internet stream launched this month, with about 60 shows already on‑board.
  • Shows are primarily music, with a few talk programs.
  • All shows are currently pre‑recorded until we can raise funds for a studio.
  • We are assigning monthly time slots for now; this will become more flexible as the community gets familiar with the system.

Technical Stack

  • Web infrastructure: built with Haskell, NixOS, Terraform, and HTMX.
  • Repository:

Transmission Plans

  • Power: 100 W ERP
  • Location: Ridgeline in the Verdugos at ~1500 ft elevation
  • Power source: Off‑grid solar system with battery backup
  • Link to transmitter: Planned synchronization via 802.11ah

Funding & Support

The station is operated by a newly formed 501(c)(3) non‑profit. We are actively seeking donations to cover equipment, build‑out costs, and the transmitter site. If you live in the area or would like to contribute in any way, please reach out!
