Overview

I’ve long been into finding deals on government auction sites (seizures, surplus sales, etc.). For example, San Diego DHS is currently selling 26 tons of lead shot, with bidding starting at $1,000 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

The Problem

Historically, searching for these auctions has been extremely tedious:

  • Scanning dozens of janky sites with interminable page‑loading times
  • Back buttons that take you all the way back to the homepage

Solution: GovAuctions

The site I built—GovAuctions—lets you search every government surplus auction at once. Features include:

  • Filtering by location, category, and price
  • Saving items to a watchlist
  • Alerts when new auctions match your criteria
