Seton — A focus timer that turns your hours into assets
Source: Dev.to
The Problem
You probably spend a lot of time on screens.
If time is money, the hours we spend are capital expenditures. We should be careful about how we allocate them, because they’re the capital we have.
Peter Drucker said: “The first step toward executive effectiveness is to record actual time‑use.”
But it’s not easy. Most people track time on the spot with a timer or just a clock, which doesn’t give a sense of long‑term progress. Many timers on app stores have limited features (e.g., Pomodoro) or are overly complicated with calendar or team functionalities that sacrifice simplicity for personal use.
Solution
Seton is a focus timer that visualizes your time spent like an asset you’ve invested.
- Press Start for the activity you’re working on (reading, writing, meditation, etc.).
- When you complete a focus session, it accumulates.
- View your time spent with charts and celebrate milestones (e.g., “I’ve spent 100 hours reading this year!”).
- Configure focus minutes, break minutes, and the number of cycles.
The more you record your time, the better you become at managing it, leading to higher productivity.
Features
- Frictionless – No need to sign up. Just press “Start.”
- Privacy – Data is stored locally in the browser; no syncing feature for now.
- Low‑cost – Runs on Cloudflare to minimize expenses and is free for the time being.
