Samsung's updated Health app unsurprisingly comes with new AI-powered features

Samsung will start rolling out an update on June 8 that makes its Health app more useful in everyday life. The company says the updated app will translate “complex biometric data — from overnight sleep to daily activity — into simple, actionable guidance.” It will also showcase features that will appear on the Galaxy Watches launching later this year.
AI‑powered health insights
The new features are powered by generative AI. They analyze a range of biometric signals and provide personalized recommendations.
Vitals
The Vitals feature uses AI to evaluate heart rate, heart‑rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and blood‑oxygen levels against your true resting baseline measured overnight. If meaningful deviations are detected, the app sends a notification suggesting whether you need more rest or might be fighting an illness. This is an upgraded version of the former Energy Score.
Heart Health Score
The previous Vascular Load metric, which measured the workload on your heart, evolves into the Heart Health Score. It combines Vascular Load data with sleep, stress, activity, and body‑composition metrics to produce a single score. The app then offers advice—such as taking more steps or eating potassium‑rich foods like bananas—to improve your heart health.
Daily Cardio Load
Daily Cardio Load recommends optimal training targets and rest periods while you work out, based on your personal metrics and overall profile.
Fitness Index
Fitness Index analyzes your daily steps, heart rate, VO₂ max (the maximum amount of oxygen your body can use during intense exercise), and compares them with peers. It then provides personalized goals aimed at specific fitness aspects, such as endurance or strength.
Availability and future devices
While the new Health app features work across Galaxy smartphones and connected devices, Samsung notes they will be “fully realized with the launch of Samsung’s next generation of Galaxy Watches.” The company is expected to unveil the Galaxy Watch 9 and Ultra 2 at an Unpacked event in July 2024.
