Audio Eraser expands to real‑time video playback
Starting on Google Pixel and extending to Samsung Galaxy with last year’s Galaxy S25 series, “Audio Eraser” has been handy for recording videos. With the Galaxy S26, Samsung is expanding Audio Eraser beyond recording, applying it in real‑time to videos from YouTube and other apps on your smartphone.
Available as part of One UI 8.5 on the Galaxy S26 series, Audio Eraser can be enabled for any audio playing on the device. You can toggle the feature on or off when supported apps are playing, adjust the strength of the effect, and enable a “Voice Focus” toggle.
Samsung says Audio Eraser on the Galaxy S26 works with YouTube, Instagram, Netflix, TikTok and other apps, though there’s no exhaustive list in Settings.
Real‑time demo
In our demo, a hockey video on YouTube played with Audio Eraser turned on. The commentators remained clear, while the crowd roar was largely removed. Turning the feature off let the crowd noise come through fully. The effect is impressive, especially since it happens in real‑time on the device.
As with earlier implementations, the processed audio can acquire a slightly odd timbre as artifacts of the removed sound leak through, but the overall result is still very usable.
Availability
The Galaxy S26 series is available for pre‑order now, with Samsung’s usual pre‑order perks such as boosted trade‑in values. Pre‑orders run through March 11, after which the phones hit store shelves.
