Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 leak reveals ‘wide’ form factor
Source: Mashable Tech
Overview
Samsung’s newest foldable is feeling more and more real as time goes on. This isn’t the Galaxy Z TriFold, which launched and was then discontinued so quickly it barely seemed to happen. The rumor mill is now buzzing about a new “Wide” foldable that could launch this summer alongside the follow‑ups to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 phones.
Leak Details
Leaker Sonny Dickson posted on X (via 9to5Google) alleged dummy models of Samsung’s upcoming foldable lineup for the summer. The leak includes:
- Galaxy Z Fold 8 – looks similar to the previous generation.
- Galaxy Z Flip 8 – also resembles last year’s design.
- Galaxy Z Wide – a more squat device that is noticeably wider when unfolded, reminiscent of Google’s first Pixel Fold.
The Wide model’s inner display is reported to have a 4:3 aspect ratio, setting it apart from the typical 21:9 or 22:9 ratios seen on current foldables.
Comparison with Competitors
The Samsung Wide phone could be positioned to compete with the heavily rumored iPhone Fold (see the iPhone Fold Ultra specifications leak), which is expected to launch later this year. Apple’s foldable is thought to be shorter and wider than a Z Fold 7, so Samsung may be aiming to pre‑empt that device with its own wide‑form factor.
Expected Announcement
A recent leak (Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 launch date leaked) suggests Samsung’s next batch of foldables will be announced in July, meaning we won’t have to wait long to see whether the Wide model becomes a reality.
