TL;DR
- A firmware build for a device with the model number SM-L715F was spotted on Samsung’s servers.
- The model number is believed to belong to the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
- The “5” in the model number suggests this may be a 4G/LTE variant.
Background
Unlike last year’s refresh, Samsung is expected to launch a sequel to the Galaxy Watch Ultra this year. Earlier, a device thought to be the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 appeared in the IMEI database with the model number SM-L716. A new leak now hints at an additional variant.
The New Leak
Spotted by the team at GalaxyClub, a firmware build for a device labeled SM-L715F was found on Samsung’s servers. The similarity to the previously identified SM-L716 suggests this model is attached to a variant of the Ultra 2.
Samsung’s naming convention typically uses:
- 6 for 5G models
- 5 for 4G/LTE connectivity
- 0 for Wi‑Fi‑only models
Given this scheme, the newly discovered SM-L715F likely indicates a 4G/LTE version of Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartwatch.
Potential Launch Strategy
Samsung may release two versions of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2:
- A 5G model limited to certain regions (e.g., South Korea, the United States)
- A 4G/LTE model for broader global distribution
This dual‑model approach would align with Samsung’s past regional rollout strategies for its flagship wearables.
