Overview

Rode continues to expand its line of budget‑friendly production tools with the launch of Rodecaster Video Core. Positioned below the flagship Rodecaster Video and the mid‑range Video S, the Core is aimed at creators who are just starting out or who already own Rode audio gear and want to add HD video capabilities. Unlike its siblings, the Core has no physical controls; the entire workflow is managed through the Rodecaster App.

Connectivity

  • Video inputs: 3 × HDMI‑in
  • Video output: 1 × HDMI‑out
  • USB‑C ports: 4 (support up to four simultaneous sources)
  • Audio jacks: 2 × 3.5 mm and 2 × Neutrik combo ports on the rear panel

Additional features:

  • Connect compatible video devices via USB‑C or use network cameras over Ethernet.
  • Wirelessly bring an iOS device’s feed into the setup with the Rode Capture app.
  • Automatic feed switching based on audio inputs reduces the need for manual micromanagement.

Integration with Rode Audio Consoles

If you already use a Rode audio console, the Rodecaster Sync app streamlines the workflow:

  • Compatible with Rodecaster Pro II and Rodecaster Duo.
  • Allows you to map video shortcuts directly to the audio console’s pads.
  • Enables unified control of both audio and video from a single desk, minimizing on‑stream fiddling.

Streaming & Recording Features

  • Direct streaming to platforms such as YouTube, Twitch, and others.
  • Record footage to an external drive.
  • New firmware adds the ability to export an EDL file for use in DaVinci Resolve.
  • Supports importing media in non‑standard resolutions and aspect ratios (e.g., square footage from social media), which are automatically scaled and optimized for the broadcast.

Availability

Rodecaster Video Core is currently available for pre‑order at $599. Shipping dates have not yet been announced.
