Release Information
Ryu Ga Gotoku announced that Stranger Than Heaven will launch sometime this winter. The announcement was made during the game’s Xbox showcase, where a new trailer was also released.
Story Overview
The narrative follows Makoto Daito, a half‑Japanese, half‑American boy whose story begins in 1915 when he sneaks onto a ship owned by a smuggler played by Snoop Dogg. Daito embarks on a journey to Japan, believing he will never be fully accepted in the United States.
The game spans five decades and tracks Daito’s evolution into Makoto Tojo, the founder and first chairman of the Tojo Clan:
- 1915 – Kokura, Fukuoka
- 1929 – Kure, Hiroshima
- 1943 – Minami, Osaka
- 1951 – Atami, Shizuoka
- 1965 – Shinjuku, Tokyo
The trailer opens with an adult Daito reflecting on the founding of the Tojo Clan, a group prominently featured in RGG’s Yakuza series. Kazuma Kiryu, the main protagonist of most Yakuza titles, was also a member of the Tojo Clan and later became its fourth chairman.
Cast
- Snoop Dogg – Smuggler (1915)

Gosu Gamers notes that Sugawara was a prolific actor best known for his role in the Battles Without Honor and Humanity yakuza film series.
