Xbox chief Phil Spencer has announced in an internal memo that he is leaving Microsoft after 38 years. The memo, titled “A new chapter for Microsoft Gaming,” explains that he decided to retire from Microsoft last fall.

Spencer also disclosed that Xbox president Sarah Bond is departing Microsoft, prompting a major management shift at Xbox. Asha Sharma, currently president of Core AI product at Microsoft, will assume the role of Microsoft Gaming CEO and will report directly to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
