Microsoft gaming boss Phil Spencer announced he is leaving the company after 12 years leading Xbox and nearly 40 years at Microsoft in total. His replacement is Asha Sharma, formerly head of development for Microsoft’s AI enterprise teams. Prior to that, she served as COO of Instacart for three years and spent four years at Meta overseeing the company’s messaging apps.

Sharma’s Vision for Xbox

In her first internal memo, Sharma says she is committed to “the return of Xbox,” focusing on games in new categories and markets where Microsoft can add real value, grounded in what players care about most.
