At a press briefing, Qualcomm introduced its new Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, describing it as a “wrist plus” processor. It won’t replace the existing W5 Plus chip but will sit alongside it, targeting gadget makers who want to build AI‑enabled wearables such as pendants, pins, and potentially display‑free smart glasses. (More powerful smart‑glass designs are expected to use Qualcomm’s dedicated AR chip.)
Key specifications
- Manufacturing process: 3 nm
- AI acceleration: integrated eNPU and Hexagon NPU
- Positioning: complements the W5 Plus as a “wrist plus” solution
The chip is aimed at expanding the ecosystem of AI wearables beyond traditional wrist‑worn devices.
