Proton today announced the launch of Proton Sheets, its end‑to‑end encrypted spreadsheet web application designed to offer a privacy‑focused alternative to Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel.

Unlike traditional spreadsheet tools, Proton Sheets encrypts all user data by default, including filenames, cell contents, formulas, and any attached files. The encryption is performed client‑side, meaning the data is unreadable to Proton’s servers and any third parties. Users can create, edit, and share spreadsheets through a web interface that mirrors the look and feel of familiar spreadsheet applications while maintaining strong privacy guarantees.
