- Access to Project Genie, including the new Street View capabilities, is being expanded beyond the US to eligible Google AI Ultra $200 subscribers worldwide who are 18 or older.
Overview
Earlier this year, Google launched Project Genie, an AI model that can generate diverse, interactive world environments from user prompts. The latest upgrade merges Genie’s generative powers with real‑world imagery from Google Maps’ Street View, letting users explore or reimagine actual locations.
How It Works
- Select a location – Within Project Genie, tap the Maps pin to choose a place in the United States.
- Choose a style (optional) – Options include themes such as “Desert Sands” or “Stone Age.”
- Define a character – Describe the avatar or entity that will explore the world.
- Generation – Genie combines the chosen Street View imagery with the selected style and character description to create an imaginative world whose starting point is anchored to real‑world visuals.
Street View imagery is currently available for US locations, with plans to expand to additional regions over time.
Availability
Starting today, Project Genie (including the Street View feature) will roll out gradually to all eligible Google AI Ultra $200 subscribers worldwide, provided they are 18 years or older.
Status
Google notes that Project Genie remains an experimental research prototype in Google Labs. The team continues to refine the model for sharper detail and greater accuracy.
