Overview
Google is rolling out a complete redesign of Pixel Now Playing with a dedicated app available via the Play Store. The previous interface, powered by Android System Intelligence, had an outdated layout. The new version uses a three‑tab layout that leverages a Material 3 Expressive floating toolbar.
New Interface
- Tap to see what’s playing – The first tab lets you start a song search. After a match (or when you’re on the other tabs), a floating action button (FAB) appears on the right to start another search.
- History – A reverse‑chronological list with a search bar at the top. You can “view & curate” entries, swipe left to Share, Add to favorites, or Listen on (if a music service is connected), and use the overflow menu to Remove from history. YouTube Music integration adds “Add to liked songs” and “Add to playlist.”
- Favorites – Works like before, showing your saved tracks.
Quick Settings Tile
A convenient Quick Settings tile (best in the 2×1 configuration) shows your last match.
- Tap to start a new search.
- Long‑press to open the History tab directly.
Installing the App
Visit the Play Store listing to update or install the revamped experience. The new app icon matches the modern Pixel blue aesthetic.
