OpenAI’s first hardware product might be a phone rather than a mysterious Jony Ive gadget. According to MacRumors, supply‑chain analyst Ming‑Chi Kuo shared that OpenAI is “fast‑tracking” the device and aims to begin mass production in early 2027.

The phone is expected to run a customized version of the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 chipset, slated for launch this fall as a follow‑up to the Dimensity 9500, which currently powers phones such as the Vivo X300 Pro and the Oppo Find X9 Pro.

Kuo highlighted that the custom chip’s headline specification will be its image signal processor (ISP), featuring “enhanced HDR” capabilities.
