NetNewsWire 1.0 for Mac shipped 23 years ago today! 🎸🎩🕶️

Current Work

We just shipped 7.0 for Mac and iOS, and now we’re working on NetNewsWire 7.0.1.

After a big release, regressions and tweaks are common, so we’re addressing those. See the current to‑do list.

Big picture: many bugs, tech debt, and polish‑needed areas remain. With Brent’s retirement last year we’ve been able to move way faster. We plan to keep up the pace.

Future Plans

• NetNewsWire 7.1 – focusing on syncing fixes and improvements. (milestone 50)
• NetNewsWire 7.2 – focus not yet defined; could be UX fixes, polish, or a mix. (milestone 52)
• NetNewsWire 7.3 – no plan yet; will depend on outcomes of 7.1, 7.2, and Apple’s WWDC announcements (touchscreen Macs, folding iPhones, new Swift features, etc.).

Note: tickets are added and removed from milestones at any time; plans are not set in stone.

Outlook

It’s NetNewsWire’s birthday, but it’s a day to look forward, not back. The very best versions of NetNewsWire are still to come!
