Netflix expands into board game adaptations

Netflix has been active in adapting games for a while, primarily focusing on video games. The streaming giant is now also acquiring rights to board game IP, with the latest acquisition being Asmodee’s Ticket to Ride.

Upcoming Ticket to Ride project

• Netflix plans to greenlight several projects across TV, film, and “additional formats,” according to a press release.
• The first project will be a feature film written by Ben Mekler and Chris Amick.
• Alan R. Moon, the creator of Ticket to Ride, will serve as an executive producer.
• This will be the game’s first on‑screen adaptation; details about its format are still unknown, though fan speculation is already circulating online.
