Overview

Microsoft is testing a refreshed Windows 11 Run menu that features a modern interface, faster performance, and native dark‑mode support. The redesign is currently being rolled out to Windows 11 Insiders in the new Experimental Channel.

Changes

  • The traditional Browse button, which opened a shortcut to user files, has been removed after usage data showed it was rarely used.
  • A new ~\ command has been added, allowing quick access to the user’s home directory.
  • The updated Run menu is built using code from Command Palette, a utility available through PowerToys that provides a searchable command interface.
