Meta is revamping its cross-app management system

Announcement
Meta announced on Thursday an improved Meta Account system designed to make it easier for users to sign in and manage their Meta accounts and devices. The announcement can be read in full on the Meta blog.
Why a new system?
The Meta ecosystem now includes Facebook, WhatsApp, Meta AI glasses, Instagram, Messenger, Meta Horizon, and more. While the existing Accounts Center helps streamline the experience, Meta says the new Meta Account will simplify it further and roll out over the next year.
Core features
- Unified password – Users can set a single password that works across all Meta apps.
- Passkey support – Log‑ins can be protected with fingerprints, face recognition, or device passwords.
- Security recommendations – Guidance for multi‑factor authentication, login alerts, and other best practices.
“Settings that apply across Meta apps and devices are managed in one place through your Meta Account — similar to how Accounts Center works today. Now, more settings can be centrally managed this way, including your password, two‑factor authentication, and the email address associated with your account. Because these don’t change from app to app, you shouldn’t have to update them separately.” – Meta blog post
Parental controls
The Family Center dashboard within Meta Account lets parents supervise teens across multiple apps without switching between them. From a single interface, parents can manage settings for:
- Messenger
- Meta Horizon
App‑specific settings remain inside each app (e.g., who can see your Facebook posts or who can tag you on Instagram).
Account linking flexibility
Linking accounts is optional. Users can keep log‑ins separate or add/remove accounts from their Meta Account at any time.
