Overview

Bambu Lab’s MakerWorld has launched the Creator Copyright Protection Program, now in beta testing. The initiative aims to help 3D designers combat one of their biggest frustrations: stolen files being resold online.

As 3D printing becomes mainstream, demand for high‑quality 3D models has surged. While many file‑sharing platforms offer incentives such as free filament or gift cards for popular uploads, some unscrupulous users re‑upload stolen designs, assuming they won’t be caught. Existing deterrents on many sites often feel like a game of whack‑a‑mole.

Eligibility

The program is available to:

  • MakerWorld Global designers with over 300 followers
  • MakerWorld China designers with over 100 followers

Bambu Lab operates two separate platforms: one for Chinese citizens and a global site for the rest of the world.

Program Impact

Since late 2025, MakerWorld reports:

  • 200+ rights‑protection requests submitted
  • 200+ infringing links removed, tied to unauthorized sales

These efforts aim to reduce the time and emotional strain designers face when protecting their work.

How It Works

  • No fees are charged for submitting most protection requests.
  • In cases involving complex legal disputes, creators may still need to seek independent counsel.
