MacBook Neo is great news for high-end Mac users, here’s why

MacBook Neo is an exciting addition to Apple’s product lineup, and even though the product isn’t meant for high-end Mac users, it should still prove good news for future models of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.
MacBook Neo will push Apple to make its more premium laptops even better
There’s a lot of buzz for the MacBook Neo, and Apple is marketing the product as perfect for PC or Chromebook switchers, or anyone who doesn’t own a computer at all.
For existing Mac users though, the MacBook Neo might not be the right product.
Outside of fun color options, MacBook Neo is under‑equipped in many ways compared to the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.
But based on Apple’s history, it should also lead those higher‑end models to get even better.
MacBook Neo being such a compelling product at just $599 means Apple will need to work harder to justify the $1,099 and $1,699 starting price tags of its other MacBooks.
Just like with the iPhone and iPad lines, having strong entry models means Apple gets to focus on bringing exciting, premium features to the high‑end models.
Differentiation is key, which means we should expect to see more advanced MacBook Pro and MacBook Air features in the future.
And rumors for the M6 MacBook Pro indicate that ‘future’ is coming later this year, with several innovations that are new to the Mac.
Features like touch support, OLED, and the Dynamic Island will no doubt trickle down to the rest of the line eventually. But only when Apple is ready to introduce new, exclusive upgrades that can keep the high‑end compelling.
Ultimately, the better the budget‑friendly MacBook Neo is, the better we’ll see higher‑end models become. Each product pushes the next one in line to improve.
So even if the MacBook Neo isn’t for you, it could be good news for your next Mac purchase nonetheless.
